Welcome to the Department of Environment and Society, where natural and human systems are considered of equal importance in natural and environmental science and management.  Our Mission Statement expands on this central idea.

Formed in 2002, the department is the first of its kind in a college of natural resources in this country and has served as a model for the development of similar departments at other institutions of higher learning.  If you are a prospective student, you will likely want to browse our sections on Degree Programs (Undergraduate, Graduate) and Courses, and special graduate offerings such as Certificates in the National Environmental Policy Act and Natural Resources and Environment Education, and our special professional Master's Degree in Natural Resources

Finally, if you want a forthright treatment of how we think we are doing, go to our section on Assessment.  Whatever your interest is in our department, we are available to answer your questions at any time, so please do not hesitate to contact us.  And of course, if you would like to help us take the department to the next level, your financial and in-kind Gifts would be most welcome.

If you have questions, Contact our departmental office or the college's Academic Service Center.
