Steve Burr is currently an Associate Professor of Recreation Resources and an Extension Specialist in Outdoor Recreation and Tourism. He also serves as the Director of the Natural Resources and Environmental Education Program and the Director of the Institute for Outdoor Recreation and Tourism at Utah State University. His related professional experience includes YMCA camp administration and field instruction and course direction for the Voyageur Outward Bound School. Steve has instructed courses in outdoor recreation, natural resources interpretation, environmental education, organized camping, and outdoor leadership. His areas of interest and research include tourism policy, planning, marketing, and management; rural and community tourism development; sustainable tourism development; natural resources-based recreation and tourism; natural resources interpretation and environmental education; and the human dimensions natural resources.

Barbara Middleton

 

Barbara Middleton, M.S.

Barbara Middleton has over twenty-five years experience learning from students in pre-school through college, seniors, and natural resource professionals. Her teaching is grounded in inquiry-based approaches and theory combined with experiential approaches integrating the environment into learning. Barbara teaches Environmental Education, co-teaches Natural Resources Interpretation, and also teaches seven special topics courses to support field based environmental education and interpretation studies. Her work focuses on the rural and urban landscape; teaching core subject areas-whether through a local neighborhood or a global destination, designing materials appropriate for different audiences to communicate natural resource information, connecting individuals with landscapes through community-based projects, and understanding how values and belief systems are influenced by children's literature.
