We will be announcing the availability of a GS 9/11 Restoration Specialist
position in the Klamath Falls Fish and Wildlife Office. It most likely will
be posted in January 2008.  The ideal candidate would have a M.S. in
watershed science/management or fisheries and 2-3 years experience
developing, designing and implementing riverine, riparian and wetland
restoration projects.  A background working with local partners such as The
Nature Conservancy, Ducks Unlimited, watershed groups and private
landowners would be a big plus. Please pass this email on to interested
graduates and your placement office as appropriate.

Our partners for Fish & Wildlife Program interfaces well with the local
watershed council, local nonprofits and many ranchers in a partnership
manner. We pride ourselves on great working relationships with private
landowners and other agencies. Approximate starting salaries for persons
who have not been federally employed before are: GS-9 $44,000, and GS-11
$52,900.  I would be happy to discuss the position with interested
candidates.

Klamath Falls is a medium-sized (42,000) town just east of the Cascade
Mountains in Oregon. The area holds a lot of opportunity for trophy
redband trout fishing, canoeing, mountain biking, backpacking on the
Pacific Crest Trail, sightseeing at Crater Lake National Park, and
attending the Shakespeare Festival in nearby Ashland. There are three
ski areas, including Mt Bachelor, within a 3 hour drive. Winters are
mild and summers are pleasant; the city has about 300 days of sunshine
per year. The Klamath Basin is known for its excellent bird watching and
is the home of the largest concentration of bald eagles in the Pacific
Northwest. There is an active local arts council and the local
institution of higher education is the Oregon Institute of Technology.

Thank you.
