SOSNR set up a green products booth in the Student Center to promote evnironmentall friendly living.

The Student Organization for Society and Natural Resources, or SOSNR, was established in 2003 to promote opportunities for service in the community, provide forums for individuals to present research, and give students opportunities to participate in conferences to help further our academic careers.

Each year we hold activities such as opening and closing socials, field trips to the Utah House in Farmington, and setting up the Green Booth during Natural Resources week, where we give out samples and literature on organic and “green products” that benefit society.  As an organization we volunteer our time to several conferences throughout the year, such as the Sustainable Landscapes Conference and the Bioneers Conference.

SOSNR is the founding student chapter of the International Association for Society & Natural Resources (IASNR). Every year some of our members attend the International Symposium on Society & Resource Management (ISSRM), the official meeting of IASNR, held around the globe from Ostersund, Sweden, to Vancouver, Canada.

To help pay for activities and subscriptions we have a membership fee of five dollars a year. We are continuing to add activities and services to our agenda and every member can play a part in choosing and planning those events. We hold meetings on a regular basis and welcome all who are interested in joining.  If you are interested in getting involved in SOSNR, drop by the club office (NR112), e-mail nradvise@cc.usu.edu, or call 435-797-1270.
