This web site is designed to assist students and faculty to locate and effectively use information resources within the natural resources field. The site provides access or direction to resources located on the Utah State University campus and pathways to quality natural resources information housed by the worldwide Internet community. In addition, the QL web site is an integral component of the libraries commitment to improving information literacy skills by providing online learning opportunities and library education program support.
Mission
The mission of the S.J. and Jessie E. Quinney Natural Resources Research Library is to provide comprehensive resources and services in support of the discovery, teaching, and learning needs of the College of Natural Resources (CNR) and Utah State University (USU). The Library will promote this mission by providing access to high quality information with a special emphasis on the research that uniquely identifies the Intermountain west and arid montane ecosystems across the globe.
Vision
Libraries are undergoing tremendous change. As technology is revolutionizing the scholarly communication process, libraries are taking the opportunity to engineer major advances in information delivery. Libraries play an essential role in the organization of information through their collecting, preserving and disseminating of information.
The vision of the S.J. and Jessie E. Quinney Natural Resources Research Library is to be a leader among arid-land researchers in breadth of material, quality of service, use of technology, and dissemination of information. We propose to reach this leadership role through:
♦ an active collaboration with agencies and libraries in the collection and dissemination of important, innovative, and accurate information;
♦ a redistribution of existing resources that will facilitate digitization of records that can be freely distributed online; and
♦ a strategic investment in technology.
The first priority of the Library is to provide these services to CNR faculty and students. Secondarily, the Library is a resource for the larger scholarly community through its participation in USU extension and collaborative partnerships.
