Library Assistance
The staff can help you use of a wide-ranging selection of print and electronic research materials available to USU students. We provide assistance in locating specific resources, identifying useful materials, and more. Help is available on a walk-in basis, by phone, or by e-mail. Quinney Catalog
The Quinney Catalog holds more than 50,000 print and electronic items, including over 30,000 items not cataloged by the Merrill-Cazier library. Although the Quinney Library's general book collection is small, it is carefully selected to meet CNR curriculum and research needs. As a member of the USU community, you are entitled to have free access to most of the 6,000 books, 800 journal titles and countless other materials that can be found in the collections. Please consult the staff for help in locating these elusive items or freely search our online catalog.
Quinney Equipment
Our onsite equipment provides functionality for creating digital images as well as PDF files while accurately retaining the formatting and layout of documents. We have both a flatbed and a slide scanner and the expertise to show how to use this equipment.
Photocopying
There are two photocopiers in the Library for student use. The cost of photocopying is $.05/page for black/white and $.25 for color. The library can not except USU card or venda card payments at this time.
Printing
There is a high-speed, networked machine available for printing materials from the library's computer lab. This Canon will support both color and black/white printing. You must log into the CNR network before you can print. The cost is $.05/page for black/white and $.25/page for color. See the Computer Lab page for log on information.
Instructor Course Reserves
The Reserves Desk makes course specific books, articles, course materials, videos, and personal copies available to students in the library. Electronic items are made available from the Merrill-Cazier Course Reserves department. A listing of reserves is available at the reserve desk on the 3rd floor of the library.
Wireless Laptop Networking
Wireless networking provides Internet access throughout Library for all current USU students, faculty and staff. For instructions on how to access the network on your laptop go to the USU Information Technology website then to Wireless Networking Instructions at or visit the service desk in the Janet Quinney Lawson (JQL) Building in room 108.
The Quinney Library provides access to:
1 Apple-based laptop
2 External DVD Recorders
2 digital cameras
1 LCD Projector w/screen
This equipment can be used for PowerPoint presentations, research projects, class group work etc. The laptop has wireless web browsing capabilities, PDF and image viewing, and word, excel, and PowerPoint Microsoft office software. The digital camera includes an internal disk to save images and the USB cable for downloading. Equipment may be checked out for 3 days.
If you know in advance that you’ll need the equipment, please call to reserve at 797-2464. To check out equipment, bring your ID card to the first floor circulation desk of Quinney Library.
