During the school year we coordinate speakers, seminars, and workshops, and develop the continuing education course for the annual meeting of the state chapter. In addition, we plan to continue funding an annual scholarship in the College of Natural Resourcesfor an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in fisheries or aquatic ecology, and try to participate in on the ground projects that benefit fisheries resources in Utah. |
| Annual field activities our student subunit members have participated in locally include transferring salmon fly (Pteronarcys californica) nymphs from the Blacksmith Fork to the Logan River, fish sampling in the Logan River, riparian revegetation on Spawn Creek, leading a tour of the Porcupine Reservoir kokanee spawn for challenged individuals, and assisting with the Bear River Celebration. We also host casual “brown bag” seminars throughout the academic year with an emphasis on local and regional aquatic research, and watershed science. | ![]() |
